Welcome back to the Disneyland Resort! This week we'll take a look at the various projects and refurbishments around the Disneyland Resort. The second annual Tinker Bell Half Marathon and Health and Fitness Expo concluded yesterday and a new race record was set. At Disneyland a massive crane has taken up residence in Fronteirland and the New Orleans Bayou Bash is in full swing. Across the esplanade at Disney California Adventure Buena Vista Street has once again received a questionable change, volume two of the Buena Vista Bugle has hit newsstands and the Blue Sky Cellar has reopened with a new exhibit on the Fantasy Faire and "Mickey and the Magical Map".
Perfect weather and moderate crowd levels at Disneyland this week. It doesn't get much better. TouringPlans.com can help you navigate the parks with our per-park Crowd Calendar, Lines - Mobile Wait Times App that gives access to current and estimated wait times for attractions, and Touring Plans detailing the best plan of attack for hitting the attractions. Now more than ever, it's a good time to subscribe to TouringPlans.com to plan your strategy to avoid the crowds!
Below are the predicted resort-wide crowd numbers for select days generated by the TouringPlans professional statisticians as measured for the upcoming week. For the access to the full year and per-park crowd level predictions, visit our Crowd Calendar.

Here are some quick-hit notes that we hope you'll find helpful as you prepare your visits for the week:
- Saturday is a 8 out of 10.
- There are no Annual Pass blackouts in effect this Monday through Friday.
- Saturday is the best day to visit Disney California Adventure
- Fastpass tickets for Radiator Springs Racers usually "sell out" within the first hour of DCA's regular park hours.
Guests walking into Disneyland are greeted with a complete photo wrap of the Main Street train station. The station is under a complete refurbishment through March 28th. The closure of the train station does not effect the Railroad operations and guests wishing to ride the Disneyland RR should head over to either the Fronteirland, Mickey's Toontown or Tomorrowland train stations.
New Orleans Bayou Bash returns for Limited Time Magic
The New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band and the Princess Tiana's Mardi Gras Celebration return along with special foods and character meet and greets. Hop on over to my Disneyland Resort Update on MousePlanet for the full details.
Blue Sky Cellar Presents: Fantasy Faire
The Blue Sky Cellar, a permanent exhibit in Disney California Adventure park used to showcase Walt Disney Imagineering projects, has received an update. The Blue Sky Cellar was initially built to showcase projects for the California Adventure expansion and remodel and now in the post DCA 2.0 era is being used to present projects resort wide.
The new Fantasy Faire exhibit features artwork in various stages of development, including the brain storm – aka “Blue Sky” phase – all the way through the implementation phase. Also featured is a large show model of the Fantasy Faire, which is currently under construction at Disneyland and set to open in the summer of 2013.
Head on over to Blue Sky Cellar Presents: Fantasy Faire at Disneyland to see much more from the new Blue Sky Cellar exhibit.
Fantasy Faire Construction
Outside we can get a really good look at the progress being made on the Fantasy Faire.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Refurbishment
The lengthly Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurbishment will continue through late Fall 2013 and this past week a massive crane has been moved into the area. The crane has been brought in to help with the complete track replacement. This crane is so large that it was built on site, and can be seen from nearly every corner of Disneyland park.
Buena Vista Street Changes
For some strange reason Disney just can't leave Buena Vista Street alone. A few months back the shop windows, which were painstakingly decorated by the team at WDI, were cluttered with cheep merchandise and this past week - seemly over night - the Glendale-Hyperion bridge was painted a two tone color.
The new paint job brings the bridge out, before it blended in well. The paint color isn't really to unappealing but what is unappealing is the work that went into it. It looks as though it was either painted to thin or applied with a sponge. The texture of the underlying stucco shows so much that it looks very cheep.
It's too bad that the management at TDA (Team Disney Anaheim) continues to mess around with this beautiful new area of Disney California Adventure. WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) put a exorbitant amount of work and research into Buena Vista Street and I personally feel that if the new paint scheme was warranted it would have been done prior to its opening, only seven months ago.
Tinker Bell Half Marathon and Health and Fitness Expo
Disneyland hosted the second annual Tinker Bell Half Marathon and Health and Fitness Expo this past weekend. The free Health and Fitness Expo drew thousands of guests, as did Sunday's Marathon. 14,000 runners took part in the 13.1 mile race.

The coast - to - coast finisher metal.
The sleeper hit of the Health and Fitness Expo was the special edition runDisney / New Balance running shoes. By the time I visited the booth on Saturday New Balance had sold out of the men's shoes completely and only had size five available in the women's shoe.

Around the Resort
The decades old Kodak sponsorship of the Disneyland guide maps has officially ended. Kodak is pulling out of it's sponsorships around the Disneyland Resort after filing for bankruptcy last year. The Kodak backing has been replaced with Disney's Photopass.
The Haunted Mansion has reopened following the removal of the Holiday overlay.
Mark Twain continues with it's refurbishment
"it's a small world" closed this morning for a five week removal of the Holiday overlay and a minor refurbishment.
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree has closed half of the attraction for a refurbishment of the flooring. You can expect twice the wait time during the partal closure.
Disney California Adventure is continuing with the Buena Vista Bugle newspaper. Volume 2, Issue 1 is now available!
That's going to do it for this week's update. You can see the past updates here.
